Harry Edward Nilsson III (born June 15, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York - died January 15, 1994), usually credited as simply Nilsson, was an American singer-songwriter with a three octave vocal range. He won Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Male Vocal Performance for "Everybody's Talkin'" (1970) and "Without You" (1973), also his two biggest hits. Although both the aforementioned songs were composed by others, he was a talented songwriter in his own right, having written "One", a hit single for Three Dog Night. Birgit Nilsson made her debut at the Royal Opera in Stockholm in 1946, with only three days' notice, replacing the scheduled Agathe in Carl Maria von Weber's Der Freischütz who was too ill to go on. The conductor, Leo Blech, wasn't very kind to her and - as she wrote in her autobiography - she even contemplated suicide after the performance. Fortunately, that unhappy experience was soon put behind her. In 1947, she claimed national attention there as Verdi's Lady Macbeth under Fritz Busch. Hardy Nilsson was a 90's Swedish indie/power pop band. They released three albums, Är det värt det? (1993), Att ha och inte ha (1994) and Härifrån (1997). The band was named after a Swedish ice hockey player and reached minor success with the songs "Popsång", "Hela hjärtat mitt" and "Faller tillbaks", all of which got some playtime on Swedish national radio.
