Janice McClain is a native Philadelphian and from published articles it seems she was about 16 when she recorded "Smack Dab In The Middle". Thanks to an artful remix by Larry Levan the RFC 12" single was one of the biggest club hits of 1979. Despite major club and radio exposure a follow-up single and album were not forthcoming. Janice Kapp Perry was born in Ogden, Utah, raised in Vale, Oregon, and makes her home in Provo, Utah, with husband of 44 years, Douglas Perry. Janice received her musical training at Brigham Young University in Provo and has been writing and recording gospel music for the last 27 years. She composed the hymn “As Sisters in Zion” for the LDS hymnbook and has ten songs in the Primary songbook.
