There are at least three bands under this name.

1) 'The Fairytale' were a little known Lancashire freak/psych beat combo on the Decca label in the mid 60s, who released two 1967 singles, 'Guess I Was Dreaming' and 'Lovely People'. 'Run & Hide', the b-side to 'Guess I Was Dreaming', is available on the album The Freakbeat Scene

2) There is also a Finnish band by the name of 'Fairytale'.

3) Fairytale was a Swedish girl band who became famous in 2002 when they performed on MGP Nordic with their song "Tills Natt Blir Dag" ("Until Night Becomes Day"). They later released an album of 12 songs. The group originally consisted of three girls: Elisabeth, Mathilda and Sofie, but they were later joined by Emilie. After the split, Emilie joined another Swedish pop group called Caracola.

4)The band FAIRYTALE was founded in 2000 by Colin Brinker (g.), David Engel (d.) and Frank Buchta (b.) in the city of Recklinghausen, Germany. Many personal changes later the band became a solid unit in 2006, when guitarist Veith Offenbaecher and singer Sascha Rose joined them.

By playing many gigs, not only in the area of Recklinghausen, the musicians have gained the reputation of being an excellent live-band. The latest CD is called "Book of fairytales" and offers an independent mixture somewhere between Heavy- and Speed-Metal.

FAIRYTALE have already played as support for well-known acts like ROCK CLASSIC ALLSTARS, MOB RULES, RAGE, SYMPHORCE, TANKARD, CUSTARD and PUBCOP.

Veith left the band in 2006 to play with "Dawn Of Destiny".
In 2008, David also left the band, because of work, and Christopher Instenberg joined Fairytale as the new drummer.
With Mirko Lersch Fairytale finally found the new second guitarist, so this year the band can spread its epic Metal message in unity.
