FLERET, the Czech folk rock band, have been touring for almost 20 years with their broad repertoaire all over the Czech Republic at least ten times a month.Their concerts have been mostly sold out and what is more, they have been able to make thousands of people sing and dance at the giant festivals of world music in neighbouring Poland and Slovakia where they already tradicionally have plenty of supporters.
So, even though the native- born Czech needs a Wallachian- Czech dictionary from time to time ( Wallachia is part of the Czech Republic where the members of the band live and which dialect they use in their songs ) to understand their lyrics, the music together with the lyrics can be understandable everywhere.
It has been evident in the last few years that the path of the intergenre fusions which FLERET set off as one of the first in the Czech Republic is becoming one of the most beaten freeways of contemporary music.
It was no concidence that FLERET were chozen as a support band for Jethro Tull, the British rock legend during their '97 World tour- Jethro Tull use folk elements in their music as well.

FLERET have a distinctive sound- regional and folk roots are its typical trademark and they become evident both in the instruments ( violin, fujara, clarinet, recorders, mandoline ) and lyrics ( the lyric writers Libor Mysliveček and Jan Mrlík use the Wallachian dialect with pleasure, nicely and with wit ) in typical musical and vocal phrases and melodies.
FLERET use these folk elements convincingly and with ease, simply, the band belongs to these elements.
FLERET, of course, have not been limited by the folk roots. They combine them with rock, the music they have listened to since their childhood at rock dances.
This influence is noticeable again both in the istruments ( drums, electric guitars ) and the characteristic way of singing and structure of songs.
Musical animality and almost childish pleasure of playing music make FLERET unique on theCzech folk or rock scene.
FLERET can be regularly heard and seen on the Czech state and local tv channels and radio stations.
FLERET preserve the Wallachian musical tradition while playing concerts with the Czech folklore song queen Jarmila Šuláková. In addition to the Wallachian and Wallachian-like folklore songs others that do not only reflect the spirit of Wallachia but are more universal can be heard in their repertoire and audiences all over the Czech Republic welcome them with enthusiasm.
