Isabel Silvestres voice is a national treasure. This friendly schoolteacher from the northern village of Manhouce is also a fierce keeper of her regions folk traditions and, indeed, it was as lead singer for the local folk group Grupo de Cantares de Manhouce' that her extraordinary voice was discovered. It took a very long time to convince her, but eventually she relented and recorded her fisrt solo album where traditional material and songs from some of Portugal greatest songwriters merge. .
