My Friend George was formed in Aalborg in the summer of 1995. Rallie had previously played guitar in the punk band Scoff and Martin (drums) and Jesper (bass) found them selves without a band, as they had just been sacked from the one they used to play with. The three high-school buddies decided to form a new band, naming themselves after a song by Lou Reed. During the following year they recorded a couple of cassettes (Discovering the Unlimited Joys of a 6-track Recorder and Covering Their Own Songs) in the flat Jesper used to share with Oceano da Cruz, and in Martin’s basement. They all contributed songs and sounds and mostly took their inspiration from American lo-fi bands.

They soon started gigging around Aalborg, but needed someone to handle the bass. They talked Simon from the local hardcore gurus Six-pence (also an ex-member of Scoff) into doing his thing and Jesper switched to guitar for good. My Friend George took a short break in the beginning of 1997, but started work on a 7” later that year. Having trouble with the recording equipment and the fact that members of the band did some travelling and moving about, they chose to quit the project. However, they still played live once in a while.

During the summer of 1999 they recorded new songs for the 7” (The My Friend George EP) and three tracks for a compilation CD at the 1000fryd studio in Aalborg. The disappointment after having recorded in a "proper" studio led the band to take a longer break. After three years of writing and recording on their own, the band released their second 7” (Over the Top). This time the band returned to their roots and recorded onto 1 and 4-tracks. They also found time to appear on recordings by American showman Price Pearlman and old friend Oceano da Cruz.

In the spring of 2002 My Friend George toured Denmark with some of the other bands on Morningside Records and later that year the band went to Norway to give a couple of shows. In January 2003 they played a show in Berlin with their good friends and labelmates Figurines. The band is known for their chaotic live appearances (due to the fact that they never rehearse) and their eclectic choice of cover songs. They are however always very entertaining.

In the spring of 2003 Simon left the band to return to his hardcore origins, leaving room for a new bass player (Oceano da Cruz is temporarily filling out his shoes).

On January 31st 2005 My Friend George went digital and released their first full-length album on the CD format. Their album "Born In The U.S.A.". .
