Prodigy (* 2. November 1974 in Hempstead, New York City als Albert Johnson) ist ein US-amerikanischer Rapper und eine Hälfte des Hip-Hop-Duos Mobb Deep. Johnson wurde in Hempstead geboren und begann Ende der 1980er Jahre zu Rappen. Mit Havoc, welchen Prodigy auf der High School of Art and Design in New York City kennen lernte, gründete er daraufhin das Duo Mobb Deep. Prodigy nahm dabei zu Beginn die Rolle des Rappers ein, während Havoc die Beats beisteuerte. The Prodigy (engl. ‚das Wunder‘, ‚Wunderkind‘) ist eine englische Band, die Anfang der 1990er-Jahre Breakbeats in der Elektronischen Tanzmusik populär machte. In der Anfangsphase noch stark am Acid House und Techno der frühen 1990er orientiert, entwickelten sie schnell ihren eigenen Stil, der auch neue Stile wie Drum and Bass und Jungle einbezog. Very atmospheric but also still brutal and heavy - something for Death/Doom fans.
