Die Dixie Cups waren ein US-amerikanisches Gesangstrio, das Anfang der 60er Jahre auch international sehr erfolgreich war. Die drei schwarzen Sängerinnen gehörten zu den ersten Vertreterinnen, die zu Beginn der 60er Jahre in Amerika den sogenannten "Girl-Groups-Sound" etablierten. 1963 begannen sie, eine professionelle Sangeskarriere anzugehen. Kurz darauf nahmen sie an einem Talentwettbewerb in New Orleans teil, wo Joe Jones auf sie aufmerksam wurde. Dieser hatte selbst in 1960 mit "You Talk Too Much" einen Bestseller und wurde nun Manager der Band. The Sippy Cups were founded by parents of pre-schoolers who are excited by the world of creativity inhabited by our children. Their music is inspired by their children (and sometimes even composed by them!). The Ace of Cups were fairly well known on the late-’60s San Francisco rock scene, playing many shows in the area (and occasionally venturing beyond), and sometimes supporting big names such as Jefferson Airplane. They also attracted attention by virtue of being one of the few all-women self-contained rock bands of their time and place. They never released anything while they were active, however, dooming them to obscurity beyond the memories of those who managed to see them live.
