Forming in 1963 as The Intruders and later known as The Quinstrells they became known as The Dearly Beloved in late '65 and were Tucson's most popular '60s band. Shortly after their name change Dan Gates, a DJ from a local radio station KTKT came along with the tape of a song called Peep Peep Pop Pop. The group were not at all keen at first but eventually he persuaded them to record it at the Audio Sound Recorders Studio in Phoenix and a record deal was negotiated with the New Mexico-based Boyd label. They got the band's name wrong...

There are at least two musical entities called Pearly Gates. Pearly Gates is a Soul, Pop, Disco, Hi-NRG, Dance singer who started her music career in 1973. She is also a member of the Soul group, The Flirtations. Pearly Gates is known for hit songs "Action", "Third Time Lucky", "No Two Ways About It", "Fading Into The Night", "One Less Bell To Ring", "The Race Is On", and recently "One Time Too Many" and "Stop For Love." Gates' 2010 album, "On A Winning Streak" resulted due to the success of her Soul and Disco recordings over the past few years....

Early States formed in November of 2007 by two good friends: singer/guitarist Zack Gray and keyboardist/guitarist Shaun O'Brien. The band began to pick up momentum after taking first place at a battle of the bands competition in San Francisco, California and being invited to play the Maloof Money Cup in Orange County, California, widely known as the biggest skateboard competition ever hosted. After releasing their debut EP "Powerlines" in Nov '08, the band was quickly named one of the top 21 unsigned bands of 2008 by Purevolume.com. The Early Tapes are from Austin, TX and recently released a self-titled debut EP. They are heavily influenced by The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, Cream, Television, and the like. .
