There is more than one artist that has used this name. 1.Habibi is the brainchild of Rahill Jamalifard and Lenny Lynch. Together, the two Detroit natives started the all girl, Brooklyn based project in the spring of 2011. Sophie Habibis is a 19 year old singer from London, England. Habibis is best known for her appearance in Britains biggest talent show, “The X Factor”. Habibis auditioned for the eight installment of the UK series and went on to become 2011's 10th place finalist. Habibis lists Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse as her biggest musical influences. .

All three members of this outfit had previously been in Mighty Baby. Their sole album, titled if man but knew from 1972, comprises Eastern-influenced hypnotic psychedelic music. In fact the album is based on Sufi music. All three members of the band had become converted to the Muslim Sufi faith. They are assisted on the album by two other musicians. .
