Kalafina is a Japanese neoclassical pop group produced by composer Yuki Kajiura under Sony Music Associated Records Inc., best known for performing all seven theme songs for the Kara no Kyoukai animated movie series and the ending themes to the Madoka Magica animated series and movies. Established in late 2007, Kalafina consists of Wakana Ootaki (大滝若菜 · FictionJunction WAKANA), Keiko Kubota (窪田啓子 · FictionJunction KEIKO), and Hikaru Masai (政井光). Kalas was a San Francisco area band formed by members and former members of Sleep, High on Fire, Econochrist, Grimple, Samiam, Eldopa, Medication Time and Cruevo in 2003. A demo was recorded at the West Oakland home of Ear Hammer studios, and was made available as free streaming or downloaded material on the web.
