Singer Hannah Reid and guitarist Dan Rothman met in the dorms of Nottingham University where they began writing music together in 2009. They later added multi-instrumentalist Dot Major to complete the London Grammar line-up. Their popularity rose with the 2012 release of "Hey Now" which they uploaded to the internet and instantly found an online cult following. There is more than one artist called London Underground 1.A side project of STANDARTE's drummer/vocalist Daniele Caputo, this fairly recent Italian trio took their name from the very style of music that was played in the London underground during the late 60's. Caputo is joined by bassist Marco Piaggesi and keyboard player Gianluca Gerlini. Bassist Stefano Gabbani eventually replaced Piagesi and then guitarist Gianni Vergelli also joined in. The London Funk Allstars were Jason Carter aka Mad Doctor X, Stefan Turner William George and F J Carter, who produced their own style of dance music of which primarily combined foundational elements of funk and trip-hop. Along with the label collaboration of Ninja Tune they would build up their discography by starting with the full-length and appropriately titled London Funk Volume 1 in 1995.
