In the tradition of underground pioneers Mudhoney and The Wipers, Memphis' Antique Curtains was formed by singer/guitarist Mike Bibbs and drummer Greg Faison. After a few early personnel changes, their lineup became complete with the additions of bassist Ryno Hanson (formerly of Straight to Hell) and guitar/keyboard chemist Tony Lucchesi. Antique Curtains' first full-length release "Unknowing and Driving" was recorded by Chuck Vicious of Oscars fame and released in June of 2005. They have since released the six-song "Renaissance EP" and are working on a second full-length album. .

The Curtains were founded in the Oakland / San Francisco Bay Area in the year 2000 by ex-Deerhoof bassist/guitarist Chris Cohen and Trevor Shimizu. Beginning as a strictly instrumental group, The Curtains now make smart but sparse lo-fi folk-pop with minimum of effort and maximum effectiveness. Influenced by film soundtracks, TV jingles, West Coast jazz and early electronic music, the Curtains gradually branched out to vocal- and more rock-based music over the years, a trend which culminated in 2006's Calamity, released by the Asthmatic Kitty label. NERVOUS CABARET is what is meant by a tour de force. The Brooklyn/NYC based sextet boasts two drummers, intensely powerful bass rhythm, soaring horns and a wild throated open-heart on vocals. Their live performances are bloodily moving: by turns Ellington, Post punk Led Zeppelin, and vaudeville orchestra. The band´s sound crashes from violent to fragile in staggered stride, rips the heart out of the room only to offer it to the wallflower. If Trenchtown lay on the Bay of Bengal, was frequented by shipmates of Rimbaud and Conrad trafficking in amplifiers and amphetamines, Nervous Cabaret would serve as the house...
