El Canto del Loco ("The Song of the Madman" in English, sometimes abbreviated to ECDL) was a Spanish pop rock band, although its members recognize that some of their songs are more in the style of power pop. The name of the band comes from the song El Canto del Gallo by Radio Futura. The group was created in 1994 in Algete, Madrid, Spain by Dani Martín and Iván Ganchegui, who were both studying at the Cristina Rota School of Dramatic Arts. Their shared musical tastes resulted in the formation of the band. At this time the group also included...
Jean-Yves Prieur, aka Kid Loco is a French electronic musician, DJ, remixer and producer. He was born on June 16, 1964 in Antony, Hauts-de-Seine, France. He began playing the guitar at the age of 13 and played in several French punk groups during the early '80s. He moved on to production as well by the end of the decade, and moved on to reggae and hip-hop with a band named Mega Reefer Scratch. By 1996, Prieur had built his own studio, christened himself Kid Loco and released the Blues Project EP for Yellow Productions. The full-length A Grand Love Story...
Locomia was a Spanish (Ibiza) pop group popular in the 1980s and 1990s. They combined elements of tropical with British music of the New Wave and New Romantics. Their first hit was the epynonomous "Locomia." The original members were Javier Font, Manuel Arjona, Gard Paschieer, and Luis Font. In 1987, the latter two were replaced by Juan Antonio Fuentes and Carlos Armas. The band was probably as famous for its costumes as for the music. They often appeared in extravagant outfits that combined Spanish matador pants with frilly jackets done in eigtheenth-century style. Fan-twirling was an important part of both...
Every so often a DJ or producer comes along who inspires the collective imagination. If you’ve seen Loco Dice perform at his ten-year-long Tribehouse residency in his hometown Düsseldorf, or at DC-10 in Ibiza (from ’02-’06), you will have clicked to this. Loco Dice is someone who can puzzle together intangible moods with a direct approach. Via his DJ sets or his productions on labels like Minus, Cadenza, Ovum, Four Twenty and Cocoon, he merges perspectives in his delicate sense for sounds and reflective atmospheres, underpinned with solid, physical grooves inspired by the hip hop that was his early sonic...
LOCOMOTIVE BREATH was formed by former OVEDRIVE-guitarist Janne Stark in 1995. The band was completed with bass-player Ulf Kronsell (BLUE TOWN, E-TYPE, SOLID FLOW), drummer Mats Brandström (T FOR TROUBLE) and singer Herman Saming (A.C.T). "Train Of Events" was released on German BlueStone in 1997 and in Japan on Avex the year after (featuring one bonus track). In 1999 Mats relocated and was replaced by Peter Svensson (FAITH, MERCY), with whom the band recorded a cover of EUROPEs "Scream Of Anger" and CAPTAIN BEYONDs "I Can´t Feel Nothing" for two tribute albums. Pete was just a temporary replacement and his...
