The Ventures was a prominent American surf rock band. The group created several well-known hit songs of the 60s, including “Hawaii Five-O" and "Walk Don’t Run”, and it was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. Its key members were Bob Bogle (guitar, bass; born January 16, 1934, died June 14, 2009), Nokie Edwards (guitar, bass; born May 9, 1935), Gerry McGee (guitar; born November 17, 1937), Mel Taylor (drums; born September 24, 1933, died August 11, 1996), and Don Wilson (guitar; born February 10, 1933) Embracing the surf music style also played by contemporaries such...
In 1998 Steve Carpenter, Anna Macdonald, Sean Evans and Tony Keenan got together, wrote some pop songs, called themselves 'bobafett' and played tons of gigs. They did this for about 2 years. During that time they recorded and released 2 cd-r type demo/album things all by themselves. In late 2000, with the imminent arrival of the star wars special edition, they decided to change the name of their band. It was at this point that 'tokyo adventures' were born. Based on the Wirral, the band released a number of compact disc recordings starting in 2000 with their debut mini album...
Adventures In Stereo were a band set up by one-time Primal Scream member Jim Beattie and singer Judith Boyle on the breakup, at the end of 1991, of their previous short-lived 4AD band Spirea X. They released records on the Glaswegian label Creeping Bent and the German label Marina (which appears to exist solely as a platform for obscurities from the Scottish indie scene!) The band developed the Spirea X sound by adding a heavy dose of sample loops to the jangly guitar/laconic vocals template, creating a sound similar to the likes of Stereolab and Broadcast. The music could be...
The All New Adventures of Us (Tanaou, to their fans) are the kind of band it is impossible for anyone to hate. After minor changes over the years, the band has settled on its current line-up. The seven Adventurers (Paul Macefield, Phil Spry, Kate Williams, Chris Jones, Jaime C. Macefield, Gary Fleming and Nic Willes) combine eloquently to make musical and poetic harmony through the medium of song. As one member once stated, "No matter how simple or complex, songs are maps to places that people can't physically go, escape plans to take us away from the towns and cities...
The Adventures Of Stevie V hail from Bedfordshire, UK. They achieved success in the early 1990s with hits such as "Dirty Cash (Money Talks)" and "Jealousy." The brain-child of producer Stevie Vincent, the group also includes singers Melody Washington and Mick Walsh. Other singles released include "Paradise", "Push 2 The Limit", "That's The Way It Is", and "Body Language." Their most recent single was...
