Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, mejor conocido por su nombre artístico The Weeknd (Toronto, Canadá, 16 de febrero de 1990), es un cantante, compositor y productor canadiense.
A finales de 2010, Tesfaye subió anónimamente varias canciones a YouTube bajo el nombre "The Weeknd". Lanzó tres mixtapes de nueve pistas a lo largo de 2011: House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence, que eran muy aclamadas.
