Diabolical Masquerade n'est autre que le groupe de Anders Nyström, guitariste de Katatonia. Fondé en 1995, le musicien se rebaptise alors Blakkheim au sein de son entité diabolique. La musique proposée s'appuie sur une base Black Metal teintée de riffs heavy auxquels s'ajoute quelques éléments symphoniques savamment utilisés. Le tout donnant une musique à la fois personnelle et originale. En 2004, Blakkheim décida de mettre un terme à son aventure solitaire, par manque d'inspiration mais aussi par manque de temps. DIABOLICAL are a Swedish Death Metal band that were formed late 1996 by S.Widgren who now is the only original member still active in the band. DIABOLICAL have been influenced by the well-known Thrash/Death-Metal pioneers like DARK TRANQUILLITY, DEATH, CARCASS and AT THE GATES. In January 2000 DIABOLICAL recorded their first CD-release, entitled "Deserts of Desolation".
