Leonard Bernstein est un compositeur, chef d'orchestre et pianiste américain, né à Lawrence (Massachusetts) le 25 août 1918 et mort à New York le 14 octobre 1990. Bernstein fait ses études à l'université de Harvard jusqu'en 1939, puis rencontre les chefs d'orchestre Fritz Reiner, Dimitri Mitropoulos, puis Serge Koussevitzky dont il devient l'assistant en 1940 à Tanglewood. Il est nommé chef assistant de l'Orchestre philharmonique de New York dès 1943 avant de revenir à Tanglewood afin de diriger et d'enseigner à partir de 1951. Steven Bernstein is a trumpeter/slide trumpeter, bandleader, arranger, and composer who lives outside of musical convention. He has released critically acclaimed CDs – Diaspora Soul, Diaspora Blues (featuring the SamRivers trio), Diaspora Hollywood, and his most recent, Diaspora Suite. All of them are on John Zorn’s Tzadik label. His band Sex Mob has been together since 1995 touring the world. Sex Mob has won numerous awards, and has had their music featured on MTV, Saturday Night Live and NPR.
