The Animals were a British rock band of the 1960s, formed in Newcastle. They were part of the British Invasion, being one of the most popular bands of their era. Known for their gritty, raw, bluesy sound and hard-voiced frontman Eric Burdon, as exemplified by their signature songs House of the Rising Sun and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, the band underwent numerous personnel changes, while influencing the later heavy metal music with the riffs of their rock songs such as We Gotta Get Out Of This Place and It's my Life. They emerged as an exponent of psychedelic music...
School Food Punishment (formerly school food punishment) was a 4-piece electronic rock band formed in late 2004 in Tokyo, Japan. The founding members were Yumi Uchimura (内村友美, guitar & vocal), Atsushi Ueda (上田睦, bass), Masayuki Hasuo (蓮尾理之, keyboards), and Katsuya Katano (片野勝哉, drums). They released their first mini album early in 2007. "SCHOOL FOOD IS GOOD FOOD" (2007) provides interesting soundscapes and neat electronic tricks. The focus, however, is on Uchimura's soft, mature vocals, and Hasuo's piano work. The band showcases a smokey jazz lounge style, raw drum sounds, and a welcome dose of electronic atmosphere. During their years as...
Animals as Leaders is a Washington, D.C. based instrumental progressive metal project formed by guitarist Tosin Abasi in 2007. Their self-titled debut album was released in April 2009 by Prosthetic Records. Animals as Leaders was formed "out of the ashes" of guitarist Tosin Abasi's previous band, Reflux. The heavy metal record label Prosthetic Records saw Abasi's guitar work and asked him to create a solo album for them. Abasi initially declined, feeling such an endeavor would be "egotistical and unnecessary". When Reflux disbanded, Abasi decided to take the label's offer. The name Animals as Leaders was inspired by Daniel Quinn's...

Originally produced by Coldcut on the Ninja Tune independent record label, the DJ Food project started in 1990 on the premise of providing metaphorical "food for DJs". DJ Food released the Jazz Brakes series, with Jazz Brakes Volume 3 being the most successful. The records consisted of collections of breaks, loops and samples, ideal for mixing, remixing and producing the trademark Ninja Tune blend of jazz & hip hop. Volumes 4 and 5 of the Jazz Brakes series, co-created with DJ / producer PC transcend the breakbeat compilation format to stand as artist albums in their own right. The later...
