Marta Marrero (born May 18, 1969 in Whittier, California, USA), better known as Martika, is a Cuban-American pop singer. As a child she dabbled in acting making her film debut as one of the dancing orphans in the film version of "Annie". Jarkko Martikainen (born October 24, 1970 in East Germany) is known for singing, writing lyrics, and composing for the Finnish band, YUP. In addition to his musical career Martikainen has worked as a columnist, a producer, and a documentarist. Martikainen has also illustrated his first solo album Mierolainen (2004) and YUP’s third album, Toppatakkeja ja Toledon terästä (1994). Very loved Basque self-taught singer born in 1943. He initially sung traditional songs just for pleasure and his first appearance in public was in 1974 in a singing contest done in Larzabal, but he didn't start to give recitals until 1978. At the beginning he sung a capella and later helped by a guitar player. He has never been a professional singer, in the sense that his main job was shepherd and agriculturist, nevertheless he recorded several records and is considered a very important figure in Basque traditional music. .
