With a shit-hot pop punk and hard rock hybrid driven by the sleazy stylings of the whiskey throated Wendy Case, The Paybacks emerged in 1999 as an almost supergroup of the underground Detroit garage rock community. Members previously played with acts such as The Hentchmen, Rocket 455 and The Muggs. Danny Mehtric lays down the law of riffage, with William Hafer and Dave Malosh providing a thunderous rythym section for Case's Lemmyesque vocals. They have released three albums "Knock Loud", the aptly named "Harder and Harder" and 2006's third album "Love, Not Reason". With a relentless tour schedule, The Paybacks...

Backwoods Payback's sound is pretty well defined – heavy southern rock with a heapin' amount of sludgey doom – and the 11 songs on this album flesh that out. Backwoods Payback has the same doom n groove qualities of that seminal band....

There are four artists that go by the name Portable: 1.) Alan Abrahams AKA Portable AKA Bodycode has been in motion his whole life—growing up in South Africa, coming of age in London, decamping to Berlin and finally settling in Lisbon—and his deeply syncopated brand of electronic dance music has evolved with every step of the journey. His formative years were spent in an impoverished Cape Town township ironically tagged “Beverly Hills”, and to the backbeat of the first wave of Chicago house records he emerged out of the ruins of a post-apartheid South Africa. Inspired musically, yet frustrated geographically,...
