Foster the People è una band formatasi a Los Angeles nel 2009 composta da Mark Foster (voce, tastiera, piano, sintetizzatori, chitarra e percussioni), Mark Pontius (batteria) e Cubbie Fink (basso e voci).
Nei primi mesi del 2010 hanno pubblicato "Pumped Up Kicks" sul loro sito web per poterlo condividere con gli amici attivando un passaparola virale che li ha portati ad essere notati dai redattori di NME, Blackbook, Nylon e Guardian che ha definito il brano come una “melodia scandalosamente orecchiabile”.

The Foster Kids are a five-piece band based in Norwich, UK, formed in 2006. The band perform both electric and acoustic. Lead singer Ian Alexander (who won four games on TV show Countdown) also performs solo acoustic. Members have played in various bands previously, including Massey and The Spinning Jennys. .
