Paddy Kelly was born on December 5th, 1977 in Dublin, Ireland. He grew up in Spain with his 11 siblings, and, directed by their father, they performed in Europe as The Kelly Family. The band achieved a great deal of success with their Folk/Pop repertiore. Paddy wrote such hits as an angel (1995) and fell in love with an alien (1996). He began recording tracks independently and in 2003 he released his solo album in exile, which reached No. 13 on the German album charts and garnered favourable reviews. Paddy Kelly left the music business in 2004. .

He is one of Ireland's most famous balladeers and is best known for his renditions of The Fields of Athenry and The Town I Loved So Well.
