1996年4月、神奈川県横浜市、関東学院大学の軽音楽サークル内で結成されたオルタナティヴロックバンド。 略称「アジカン」。文字媒体では「AKG」または「AKFG」と称される事もある。所属事務所は、Spectrum Management。所属レコード会社はKi/oon Music inc. バンド名の由来は、後藤が好きだったTHEE MICHELLE GUN ELEPHANTが、英単語を3つ使用している事から「3つ単語を使おう」と思い立ち、考えた末に「ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION」で決定。「海外の人たちが読んで驚くような名前」という意味も込められている。“カンフー”は、後藤がカンフー映画好きだから。このバンド名について、Noel Gallagherからは「クソ素晴らしいバンド名だ。(Fuck'n cool!)」とコメントを受けている。 「ソラニン」を除く全楽曲の歌詞は、後藤が手掛けている（「ソラニン」は、同名の漫画原作者である浅野いにお作詞）。情景描写と心理描写を巧みに駆使した、ほとんど日本語で綴られる抽象度の高い歌詞が特徴である（インディーズ時代は、全編英語詞の楽曲ばかりだった）。CDに付属している歌詞カードが縦書きなのは、後藤がeastern youthの影響を受けており、また、単に横書きが苦手であるからである。作詞時も同様に縦書きで歌詞をノートに綴っている。 作曲もほとんどが後藤の手によるものだが、他のメンバーが作曲に関わることもある。また、曲を作ったメンバーが歌えばいいという方針であり、喜多が作曲した「嘘とワンダーランド」では、後藤ではなく喜多がメインボーカルを担当している。なお、初期の音楽性は、叙情的なメロディと歌詞に、後藤の叫ぶ様なエモーショナルなボーカルが乗るという点がeastern youthと共通しており、影響を色濃く受けている。また、『N.G.S』（"ナンバーガール・シンドローム"の略）というタイトルの楽曲を作ったりするなど、NUMBER GIRLからの影響も随所に伺える。曲のコーラスは、殆んど喜多が担当しているが、6thアルバム、『マジックディスク』収録曲のコーラスは、「双子葉」を除き全て後藤自身が担当した。また、自主制作盤、Easter、Wonder Futureを除くCDジャケットは、全て中村佑介のイラスト。 Band members (リーダーは喜多建介) 後藤 正文 – lead vocals, rhythm guitar 喜多 建介 – lead guitar, backing vocals 山田 貴洋 – bass, backing vocals 伊地知 潔 – drums, percussion .

Asianova are a four piece band from Houston, Texas, comprised of Wilhem (springs, strings, and scratching things), Katkishka (singing, ringing, and heavy pounding), Pamela Passmore (voice, noise and pretty toys) and Ure Thrall (purges, urges and gothic dirges).
