There's more than one band under the name Polen: 1- Polen is an electro/rock 4-piece band from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Polen stands up with a new trend of live act full of energy, a fusion between loud guitars and strong synths which makes us compare them with bands like Soulwax, Digitalism, Does it Offend you, yeah? among others. Nowadays, the band owns two free distribution EPs: "Metamorphy" (2008) and "Compressor" (2009) and is planning to release a new single "Drop the Line" (2010) next June. El Polen from Barranco, Lima, Peru, can be considered the first Andean psychedelic group ever. Their first album, "Cholo", released in 1972, was the soundtrack of a movie based on the life of Peruvian soccer player Hugo Sotil. Their music was a mixture of traditional Andean folk with native instruments (quenas, antaras) and rock instrumentation, creating a unique style where violins sounded like fuzz guitars.
