There are two artists sharing the same name:
1) In El Paso in the late 60's and the early 70's there was a small group of musicians that refused to bow to the calling of the top- forty radio. These bands worked obscure venues with a core of avid fans that followed them everywhere. One of these bands was Wailing Wall. This unlikely foursome consisted of Doug and Darrell Adams, Mike Cancellari and David Rutledge.
Doug Adams was the lead singer and rhythm guitar player and was one of the two poets in the band. He had a rough raw...
Bob Marley and the Wailers (BMW) was a Jamaican reggae band 1974-1981) lead by Rastafarian Bob Marley (1945-1981) when Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the old band, The Wailers. BMW, consisted of Marley himself as song writer and lead singer, 6-7 regular musicians in Wailers Band and the I Threes backup female vocalists. It is the most prosperous reggae band ever with +75 million record sales, known for songs like One Love, I Shot The Sheriff, Natural Mystic. Stir It Up, No Woman No Cry, Exodus and Get Up Stand Up.
The band included Carlton Barrett on drums –...
In the early days of the Wailing Souls, the first name that the group came up with in the late 60's was the Renegades. This line-up recorded backing vocals for an Ernest Ranglin album before breaking up in 1968.
'Pipe' and 'Bread' teamed up with two other singers after that, Oswald Downes and Norman Davis, and recorded the single "Gold Digger" for producer, Lloyd "Matador" Daley. From there they went on to work with Coxsone Dodd's famous Studio One label recording label, considered...
There are or have been - at least - two bands named The Wailers:
- The legendary Jamaican reggae band (founded as a ska group 1963, and became a Rastafarian reggae band in 1968), renamed Bob Marley & The Wailers in 1974, which are still active led by bassist Aston Barrett after Marley's death in 1981.
- The Fabulous Wailers, a rock and roll and garage band from the USA, active 1958-1969, first led by John Greek, replaced in 1960 by Rockin' Robin Roberts.
1) Bob Marley & The Wailers have together sold in excess of 255 million albums worldwide....
