DragonForce is a Power Metal band that was formed in 1999, from the remnants of black metal band Demoniac under the name of DragonHeart. However, the band soon changed its name to DragonForce before releasing any commercial albums due to possible commercial issues with Brazilian band Dragonheart. Their career began with publishing of songs on the first incarnation of MP3.com, claiming the top of the site's heavy metal charts. The hit song Valley of the Damned reached over 500,000 downloads in the first few months.

Rising Force was the name of Yngwie Malmsteen's band in Sweden before he came to America. The members were: Yngwie (guitars), Marcel Jacob(bass; he later was on Yngwie's albums Marching Out and Inspiration), and Zepp Urgard(drums.)
Back then, metal vocalists in Sweden were rare, so Yngwie and Marcel handled the vocal duties.
They recorded one demo with this lineup in 1980 at Thunderload Studios. It was never released until 2002 when Marcel remastered and released the demo with the title Birth of the Sun.

1986年、前オメガトライブに在籍していた高島信二（ギター）、西原俊次（キーボード）に加え、新たに日系ブラジル人のカルロス・トシキ、菊池桃子、岩崎宏美のバックバンド（パイナップル・カンパニー）でギターを担当していた黒川照家を迎えて、プロデューサー藤田の第2弾プロジェクト『1986オメガトライブ』（ナインティーンエイティシックス - ）としてデビュー。
1988年3月、黒川がバンドを脱退する。グループ名を『カルロス・トシキ&オメガトライブ』に変更する。
改名の理由として、「黒川が脱退した以上、1986オメガトライブではなくなった」ことと、「（1986という）ネーミングが古くなってきた」ことが挙げられている。
なお、改名に当たってスタッフとしては「もっとカルロスを全面に押し出したい」という意向があったが、本人たちは「あくまでも3人のバンドである」と考えていたため、スタッフの思惑通りにはいかなかったようである。
1988年7月、レコーディングにコーラスとして参加していたジョイ・マッコイが正式に加入する。
1990年、ワーナーパイオニアへ移籍(カルロス・トシキ&オメガトライブ名義で発売された全て楽曲は、原盤権がワーナーパイオニア（現・ワーナーミュージック・ジャパン）に譲移された)。松任谷由実が作詞・作曲した「時はかげろう」を発表後、ファイナルツアーを行い、1991年3月16日日清パワーステーションでのライブを最後に解散する。1990年12月14日放送の『ミュージックステーション』（テレビ朝日系）にて解散発表を行った。
2005年3月9日、ファンサイトの呼びかけを中心とした署名活動により、発売された楽曲[12]が全曲[13]収録されたCD＋PVや『歌のトップテン』に出演した時の映像を納めたDVDを収めた『COMPLETE BOX "Our Graduation"』を発売する。
