The Killers są amerykańskim zespołem rockowym założonym w 2002 roku. Pochodzą z Las Vegas w Nevadzie. Tworzą go: Brandon Flowers – wokalista, instrumenty klawiszowe, David Keuning – gitarzysta, Mark Stoermer – basista, Ronnie Vannucci – perkusista. Zespół został założony przez Brandona Flowersa, a inspiracją do tego było obejrzenie występu Oasis. Niedługo potem odpowiedział na ogłoszenie Davida Keuninga i tak powstał rdzeń zespołu. Nazwa została zapożyczona z klipu New Order pt. "Crystal". Wkrótce potem do Brandona i Davida dołączyli Mark Stoermer i Ronnie Vanucci i w czwórkę szybko rozpoczęli prace nad materiałem na album. Zasadniczo było to trio w składzie: saksofonista John Zorn, basista Bill Laswell oraz perkusista i wokalista Mick Harris (z grupy Napalm Death).
