Benny Goodman, właściwie Benjamin David Goodman (30 maja 1909 - 13 czerwca 1986) - amerykański muzyk jazzowy, klarnecista, zwany "królem swingu". Urodził się w Chicago w rodzinie ubogich żydowskich emigrantów. Nauczył się grać na klarnecie uczęszczając na zajęcia dobroczynnego klubu muzycznego dla chłopców. Już jako młodzieniec stał się wirtuozem i grał zawodowo w różnych zespołach. Na jego styl gry duży wpływ wywarli klarneciści uprawiający jazz nowoorleański, tacy jak Johnny Dodds, Leon Roppolo czy Jimmy Noone. .
