Waive was formed in Osaka in early 2000 by guitarist Yoshinori Sugimoto (杉本善徳) and vocalist Takayuki Tazawa (田澤孝介), although those two were quickly joined by drummer Makoto and another guitarist, Takashi Ninokata (Rui) (貮方孝司). They released their first demo tape, "Spanner", during their first live in April of 2000 and their first single, "Pink Distortion", was released in October. The band continued as most young bands do, releasing various singles and demo tapes while participating in various events such as "Loop Ash Presents in NAGOYA" and the "SHOCK WAVE CIRCUIT" tour.
