Nascidos em 1994, os The Gift surgiram inicialmente como projecto paralelo dos Dead Souls, banda de então de Nuno Gonçalves e Miguel Ribeiro. A evolução de um projecto para o outro aconteceu de forma natural, uma vez que sentiam que a sonoridade dos Dead Souls estava limitada aos instrumentos que utilizavam (guitarra, bateria e baixo), e a urgência em experimentar novos sons e partir para novos horizontes musicais era cada vez maior. Assim, o que começou por ser um projecto secundário de ambos os jovens a darem os passos iniciais na música, foi crescendo e ganhando maior importância na vida...

What began as a one-off split 45 by songwriters Greg Cartwright (The Oblivians, Compulsive Gamblers, Reigning Sound) and Coco Hames (the Ettes, Coco Motion) quickly evolved into The Parting Gifts. "I thought, I'd write a song, Greg would write a song, we'd record them together, and that would be that," says Hames. "Luckily, Greg's prolific awesome switch was on, and we got this whole record instead." Offers Cartwright, "I was just so impressed with how easily things went that I was inspired to write more material for the project." And so we have their debut full-length on In The Red....

The Gift Machine is a Psychedelic Folk band formerly based out of a small town called Anacortes on an Island called Fidalgo in northwestern Washington State.
