Adele Bertei is an American singer/songwriter, an ex-member of James Chance and the Contortions, Peter and the Wolves, and The Bloods. Whilst not hugely successful commercially on either side of the Atlantic, her career in the industry has been active since the late 70s through various rock bands, only releasing her first solo album, Little Lives, in 1988. Before then, she had (most famously) featured on the Jellybean record Just a Mirage. Her one album is out of print, though still in circulation.

She did, however, produce some solo singles (which, again, failed to make a substantial commercial impact). The first, When It's Over (which featured secondary vocals from Scritti Politti frontman Green Gartside), in the mid-80s, Build Me a Bridge (produced by Thomas Dolby) in the early 80s, and Little Lives, Big Love.

She appeared on the CD Imagination, credited to Medium Cool, with Alex Chilton, James White, and Angel Torsen. The CD is a homage to Chet Baker. She also appears as a background singer in Sophie B. Hawkin's "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" video. She performed as a background singer on Tears For Fears' "Seeds of Love" tour as well.

According to IMDB, she has also made several film appearances, perhaps most notably as a prisoner in the Madonna film Desperately Seeking Susan; as well as composing the soundtracks to both Vortex and The Offenders.

A mysterious, elusive and sadly underrated artist. Most recently she has been performing with the band Anubian Lights. .
