Svend Asmussen (28 February 1916 - 7 February 2017) was a jazz violinist from Denmark, known as "The Fiddling Viking". A Swing style virtuoso, he played and recorded with many of the greats of Jazz, including Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Stephane Grappelli. One of the more original bands from the post-war era, Ole Rasmussen & His Nebraska Cornhuskers produced a series of Western swing hits in the '40s and early '50s. With a sound that took a lot from the music from Bob Wills, the band was not based out of Nebraska as their name would seem to indicate, but instead was from California.
