Obsidian Kingdom is a music project formed in 2005 in Barcelona. The band plays hard-to-classify and intense music with plenty of contrasts, and its main features are the use of multiple sound resources in order to portray a wide range of emotions, a deep interest for aesthetics and the mise-en-scène, and the sombre and cryptic quality of their lyrical topics. Heavy grooves, bashing rhythms and hypnotizing melodies with a polyrithmic twist: Obsidian started it's adult live in 2002 when drummer Melle Kramer joined Simon Lawford (Guitars), Glen Loupias (Bass), and Sjaak Kassies (Guitar). The renewed line-up made it possible for the band to experiment and evolve, creating a unique, dynamic style of music in the vein of bands like Meshuggah, Scarve, Cynic and Opeth. Obsidian Gate are a symphonic black metal band (or orchestral blackened death metal, as the band calls their genre) from Germany. They released two demos as The Gate during 1994–1999, but changed their name to Obsidian Gate in 1999. The band split up in 2003, but reunited in October 2007. Their current lineup is Marco Boms (guitars, keyboards, bass, 1994–present), Markus Zeitz (guitars, vocals, drums, lyrics, 1994–present) and Alexander Schiborr (keyboards, 2013–present). Daniela P. played the keyboards on The Nightspectral Voyage and Colossal Christhunt. Marlon D. played the drums during 1994–1999 and was their session drummer in 2003. .
