Stan Tracey (30 December 1926 – 6 December 2013) was a British jazz pianist and composer, whose most important influences were Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk. Tracey's best known recording is the 1965 album Jazz Suite Inspired by Dylan Thomas' "Under Milk Wood", which is based on the BBC radio drama Under Milk Wood, by Dylan Thomas. It has often been cited as one of the most celebrated jazz recordings made in the United Kingdom. In a review of the album for BBC Music Magazine, Chris Parker wrote: "Tracey’s startlingly percussive, eccentric piano style and his close rapport with tenorman...
Racey was a British pop and rock group that formed in 1976 in Weston-super-Mare. Created by musicians Phil Fursdon and Clive Wilson, the group is best known for their 1979 album 'Smash and Grab', giving them a burst of popularity as a slick, sunny pop artist akin to contemporaries such as Showaddywaddy and The Rubettes. The band was also formerly known as "Alive 'n' Rockin". Racey scored a series of hit singles in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. These include "Lay Your Love on Me" and "Some Girls". Their aforementioned 'Smash and Grab' album sold about 500,000 copies...
Tracey Ullman (born December 30, 1959 in Hackbridge) an English comedienne, was a pop star for a brief spell in the early '80s before resuming her focus on acting. She had six singles in the British Top 100 in a 19 month span from March 1983-October 1984. Melody Maker once described her retro '60s style sound as somewhere between "Minnie Mouse and the Supremes". In 1982 while starring on the BBC TV programme "Three of a Kind", Ullman was persuaded to record an album "You Broke My Heart in 17 Places" for Stiff Records, which quickly became a #14 pop...
Stan Tracey (born Stanley William Tracey in London on 30 December 1926 ; died on 6 December 2013) was one of the UK's most original, talented - yet startlingly underrated - jazz musicians. Sonny Rollins is quoted as saying "Does anyone here realise how good he really is?" As well as recordings under his personal name, he also recorded as Stan Tracey Octet, The Stan Tracey Quartet, Stan Tracey Big Band and Stan Tracey Trio. Tracey played professionally from the age of 16, before becoming house pianist at the famous Ronnie Scott's jazz club in his home city - London....
