Haila Maria Mompie Gonzalez was born on the 28th of January 1974 in the easterly part of Cuba, Las Tunas. From an early age on, she was wrapped in the beauty of dance, music and singing. After finishing her dancing degree in 1991, she performed with different bands as well as in numerous musicals and cabarets. La banda se formó en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires en 1994 como una banda de amigos de colegio secundario, durante aquellos primeros años se editaron dos cassettes "Sólo un día más" y "Shaila" en 1996 y 1998 respectivamente, las presentaciones de banda no abundaban en esa época pero eran cada vez más la presencia de Shaila en los recitales del under porteño. In addition to touring the Middle East, Europe, and the U.S., she has released Belly Dance instructional, fitness fusion, and performance videos. She has also produced CDs and written belly dance manuals.
