WHAT HAVE WE DONE Strawman or The Clash were a red punk rockers... but what about hardcore?... After Lärm ended, some of these guys went on to form ManLiftingBanner. Before ManLiftingBanner there was Profound, one of the first European bands that followed in the slipstream of the ‘87/’88 straight edge revival. Profound started in 1988 as a 5 piece with Jos on 2nd guitar, so basically all the Lärm guys minus their singer plus Michiel and Burt. With that line-up we recorded the ‘Dutch Wolfpack’ demo. Jos left to concentrate on work/ studies and Seein Red and as a 4...
"Drifting Sun" are a UK-based progressive rock studio project. Their music has been described as dramatic, theatrical, & atmospheric, in the true style of progressive rock giants. Originally called "Drama" (and having had to rename themselves after finding out another band was using the same name!), the band dates back to the early 90’s when Keyboardist/Composer Pat Sanders left his native France to plant roots in England with Bass Player Manu Sibona. Pat had already composed some early material for the project, and joined forces with American Vocalist/Lyricist Rafe Pomeroy soon after his move to the UK. Together, they crafted...
Somali funk from the '70s and '80s. Information on the band and the songs below can be found here: http://likembe.blogspot.com/2007/11/somali-mystery-funk.html .
There are multiple bands with this name. New Zealand's The Shifting Sands started as a collection of songs written by Michael McLeod. McLeod decided to collaborate with friends in Dunedin, and embarked upon making an album with many of Dunedin’s finest musicians in tow including the likes of David Kilgour, Robert Scott, Robbie Yeats, Lesley Paris, and Jay Clarkson. Production duties were shared between Tex Houston and Thomas Bell. Shifting Sands of Brisbane, Australia, are Geoff Corbett (vox) Anna Clifford (vox) Izzy Mellor (vox & keys) Dylan McCormack (acoustic) Dan Baebler (electric guitar) and Liam Campbell (drums). .
Seattle, Washington's Shoplifting is composed of members Hannah Blilie (drummer), Chris Pugmire (vocalist and guitarist), Devin Welch (guitarist), and Melissa Lock (bassist). The revivalist-riot grrrl punk band started in 2003 and is reminiscent of former riot grrrl bands Bikini Kill and Bratmobile, with major musical similairity with that of Huggy Bear. Great band to see live.
