Mount Vernon Arts Lab is a pseudonym of Glasgow, Scotland's Drew Mulholland (aka Black Noise, Mount Vernon Astral Temple and N). The lab joined Ghost Box after years of experimentation in geomancy, psychogeography and ancient British Electronics. Its séances evoke visceral sounds that immerse the listener in a world of deserted tube stations, Quatermass, 18th century secret societies, time haunted vaults beneath Neolithic barrows and pub cellars, and the footsore reveries of the modern flaneur. Played with the Bar-Kays for a few years during the early-1970s before embarking on a solo career In 1975 Burch was signed to United Artists, where he released his debut album, I'll Be Your Sunshine. Later he moved to Columbia Records and then Chocolate City Records, which was distributed by Casablanca Records and Filmworks. He later recorded for Spector. Busy writing songs for a new EP they are readying for May/June this year, The Vernons took time out recently to shoot a video for a song from the Volume II collection. I Want Her Back At Home is something of a contrast to earlier singles from the band – this slower-paced song exposing a more contemplative and emotive layer than some of the foursome’s harder-edged material. Written originally about the deep yearning experienced when some lovers part, the track features frontman Jonny Nyst’s superb vocals against a stripped down yet enormously accomplished guitar interplay.
