YOSHII LOVINSON was the stage name adopted by Kazuya Yoshii (吉井一哉) for his solo career after his band The Yellow Monkey stopped performing together in January 2001. Starting in 2006, he has released his albums as Kazuya Yoshii (pronounced the same as his real name but written 吉井和哉 for luck). Under both names, he has scored hits on the Oricon charts in Japan. .
The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up is a 5 piece band formed in 1997 in Oakland, California. Named after a high school friend of the band, their highly textured sound spans the range from indie to post-rock. They have released three full lengths on Absolutely Kosher Records. As of 2006, the band is on hiatus. The band includes leadsinger Paul Gonzenbach, drummer Ryan Craven, bassist Frankie Koeller and on guitat both Noah Blumberg and Ian Connelly. .
