"Extreme power metal" is usually used to describe the Melodic Death Metal/Power Metal fusion present in the works of Finnish bands such as Children of Bodom and Kalmah, as these artists usually fall just as much within the category of power metal as they do in Extreme Metal. These bands may be described as power metal with death growls and black metal screams. However, DragonForce also uses the term "extreme power metal" to describe their music because of its faster tempos and more technical nature when compared to many typical power metal bands. DragonForce does, however, make use of death growls in their backing vocals in several songs throughout their discography, in particular on a number of tracks from 2015's Maximum Overload. .
