Hi-NRG #2 | en

Hi-NRG (High Energy) is high-tempo disco music (often with electronic instrumentation), as well as a more specific, derivative genre of electronic dance music that achieved mainstream popularity in the mid to late 1980s. The term was also applied to Eurobeat when sold in the U.S. Between 1983 to 1989, in both the UK and the U.S., Hi-NRG was most popular and the music of and by the GLBT community. By 1990, House music displaced Hi-NRG from its high ranking. Hi-NRG is still recorded by some music artists. It mainly exists as danceclub remixes of mainstream Pop, R&B and Rock songs. Record labels such as Almighty Records, Klone Records and Megahit Records (some of their output) all issue Hi-NRG music. .
