stoner doom | en

Stoner doom is a style of riff-based doom metal that's relatively fast (when compared to other styles of the genre) and makes much use of guitar/bass effects such as reverb, fuzz, phaser or flanger. Becoming heavier (heavy bass), darker (lyrically and musically) and slower than stoner metal and incorporating more psychedelic elements. Stoner doom is strongly influenced by the psychedelic-oriented works of early Black Sabbath (particularly songs such as "Sweet Leaf'').
The style was pioneered in the early–mid 1990s by bands such as Sleep, Acid King, Electric Wizard and Sons of Otis. .
