Tamil is a South Asian language largely spoken by the people of the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. It is also spoken by significant minorities in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore amongst many other countries. Majority of the tracks are written for Tamil movies. The Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman started his career with Tamil movies. Ilaiyaraaja, M.S.Viswanathan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Harris Jeyaraj, Vidyasagar are other famous composers. Recently a lot of independent albums are also produced.
