Instruments are FUN FUN FUN! The Surfing Henchmen is a four piece instrumental Surf n' Roll orchestra based in the town of Aarhus, Denmark. The Music is a banging inferno of guitar attacks, but is way more laid down than their live shows, wich often has turned in a direction that nobody expected (or even some wanted) The Surfing Henchmen consists of these four retardos: Clayton McKlusky: 6-String Fidel Armstrong: 6-string Barry B. Blakk: 4-String Winston Espinosa: Barrels and ocationally Hank Urfin: Keys/Organ .
It is fair to say that the immediate appeal of the incredible Hammersmith Gorillas was triggered primarily by the fascinating sleeves of their first singles. These guys, if anything, deserved total respect simply for being brave enough to look the way they did. Their bizarre display of totally over-the-top hairdos combined with the most incongruous dress sense became an endless source of wonder and speculation for a generation of French fans. Who on Earth were they? Where could they possibly come from? The sole information available to us was limited to a short column that appeared in an early issue...
A peculiar and fascinating blend of cultures and musical worlds, that is the essence of Subsurfing, the collective fronted by English producer/engineer Greg Hunter and Japanese instrumentalist/producer Ryoji Oba. Their acclaimed 12-inch/CD The Number Readers in 1994 was one of the absolute highlights on the ambient firmament, while with their debut album Frozen Ants (released on Apollo Records in May of 1995) they extended their intriguing pandemonium of cutting atmospherics, enchanting Indian textures and deranged hi-tech dub, displaying a stunning virtuosity in the combined use of electronics and live instrumentation. .
