Hope Sandoval (born 1966) is an American singer-songwriter who was lead singer for Mazzy Star and later Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions. Early life and career Sandoval is from a large Mexican-American family in East Los Angeles, California. Sandoval started her career in 1986 with her friend Sylvia Gomez in a folk music duo called Going Home. Opal and Mazzy Star Hope started to sing and perform with the band Opal in the late 1980s alongside David Roback. The two began writing together and renamed the band Mazzy Star. DEYA DOVA’s sound has been likened to Fever Ray, Trentemoller and Bjork mixed with something refreshingly unique (IN THE MIX). Based in Byron Bay she is one of the few self produced female Australian artists. Hailing from the Nullarbor desert in South Australia and growing up alongside the traditional Indignenous people of whale dreaming country, DEYA’s take on music is wide screen.
