Herbie Hancock, tam adıyla Herbert Jeffrey Hancock, 12 Nisan 1940’da ABD’de dünyaya geldi. Müzisyen bir aileden gelen Hancock yedi yaşında piyanoyla ilgilenmeye başladı, halka açık ilk gösterisini ise bundan iki sene sonra gerçekleştirdi.
