In 1999, successful Dutch artists Ferry Corsten and Tiësto joined forces to create the trance partnership of Gouryella. To highlight their importance in the trance scene at the time, there were 20 separate CD releases of the 4 Gouryella tracks from 9 different labels. Incidentally, the name of Gouryella comes from the Aborigine word for Heaven. Gouryella is known to have released six tracks: Gouryella, Gorella, Walhalla, In Walhalla, Tenshi and Ligaya. Zoals vele artiesten begon ook Ferry op jonge leeftijd met zingen. Als kind zong hij enthousiast mee met de hits van zijn grote idool "Elvis Presley". Op de basisschool heeft Ferry voor het eerst zijn muzikale kwaliteiten laten zien door een playbackact te doen van zijn grote idool "Elvis". Op latere leeftijd nam Ferry de microfoon in de hand en zong voor degezelligheid een paar liedjes in zijn Brabantse stamcafé "het Pleintje". Ferry Corsten is a Dutch DJ, producer and recorder who first started out in 1991 producing underground hardcore gabber tracks. He soon expanded into clubhouse and trance music. But don't put Ferry into the trance corner, because his sound encompasses several genres of electronic music. In 1999 Ferry Corsten was voted Best Producer of the Year at the Ericsson Muzik Award in London. In 2000, he was awarded Best Remix for Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix) at the Dancestar 2000 awards.
