Группа Morbid Illusion была создана в 1989 году двумя бывшими участниками группы Parakmi (Decline): Costas "Dead" V. - вокал и Jim - ударные. Также в группе числились два сессионных музыканта: Nectarios - бас-гитара (Insanity) и John - гитара (Necromanss). Через год группу переименовали в Curse, а в 1991 поменяли имя в последний раз на Obsecration.
Группа выпустила четыре демо до первого мини-альбома в 1993 году под названием "Oblivious...", после чего было выпушено ещё пять демо-записей, и, наконец-то, в январе 1994 года они начали запись первого альбома.
