The Colonial One adventure began in 2009, when Luca Magnano and Andrea Magnano started with their trance project. With this creative alias, the brothers have captured their passion for electronic music and want to give their support to the trance culture. Ten years of difference between them don't affect at all to their creativity and musical tastes. In fact, this allows them to mix different sounds between past and present. Before joining, Luca worked on various electronic genres and Andrea used to be a house and trance DJ at a local radio station. Their views on the future of trance...
The Wild Colonial Bhoys began as a side-project idea for two young veterans of the Minneapolis rock scene. Adam Coolong and Geno Carlson hail from different backgrounds thousands of miles apart (Adam is originally from Pennsylvania and Geno calls Saskatchewan home) but found common ground with a shared Irish heritage and a desire to reinvigorate the local Irish music community. They played their first show in November, 2003. Since then, The Wild Colonial Bhoys have garnered quick attention and much respect in the Twin Cities Irish music scene. Wild Colonials were a band based in LA during the 90s. Fronted by Angela McCluskey's distinctive voice, the band also included violinist Paul Cantelon, guitarist Shark, multi-instrumentalist Scott Roewe, and drummer Thaddeus Corea. Numerous other musicians joined the band on their recordings, including Jon Brion, Tony Berg, Rickie Lee Jones, Cyndi Lauper, Dr. John, and Shudder to Think. Their music combined folk-rock and world music influences with eclectic indie...
Sometimes incorrectly referred to as Princeton Reverbs Colonial, this quintet from New Hampshire released two critically lauded but commercially ignored indie rock records in the early 2000s before quietly splitting up. The band recorded their first two releases for vocalist Paul Vittum's own record label before hooking up with Bill Doss of The Olivia Tremor Control for their second proper full-length, 'Ring the Pair-of-Bells', which was released in 2002. The band's two full-length albums are both essentially a continuous concept record, with their debut 'And the Flute to Float the Soldier's Sword' telling the first part and 'Ring the Pair-of-Bells'...
In June 1996, a revolution occurred in Indian musical history when two talented Indian nationals were invited to perform on MTV Unplugged. Calling themselves the "Colonial Cousins", A. Hariharan ("Hari") and Leslie ("Lezz") Lewis became the first Asians and only Indians so far to have performed on the prestigious show, which features only the biggest acts in the American and British music industry. That MTV Unplugged featured a group which had released only one album, and that too just two months prior to the concert, speaks volumes for the Colonial Cousins' talents. Their unique brand of music seamlessly fusing Indian...
