It is fair to say that the immediate appeal of the incredible Hammersmith Gorillas was triggered primarily by the fascinating sleeves of their first singles. These guys, if anything, deserved total respect simply for being brave enough to look the way they did. Their bizarre display of totally over-the-top hairdos combined with the most incongruous dress sense became an endless source of wonder and speculation for a generation of French fans. Who on Earth were they? Where could they possibly come from? The sole information available to us was limited to a short column that appeared in an early issue...

Undersmile are a Female-Fronted Sludgecore band from Oxford, England. They are-Taz Corona-Brown on Vocals and Guitars, Hel Sterne on Vocals and Lead Guitars, Olly Corona-Brown on Bass Guitars and Tom McKibbin on Drums. They grew up to the strains of Melvins, Mudhoney, Hole, Babes In Toyland etc and are influenced by the slow/heavy sound of the early 90's as well as bands such as Harvey Milk, Swans, Pissed Jeans.... Formed in Vienna and Berlin in the mid-1990's, the farmersmanual (aka. Farmers Manual) collective represents media art at its most anarchistic. While being best-known for their recordings, in recent years the group have shifted their emphasis towards extensive live performances, in which imaginative computer animation, synchronized with 'chaos-particle-accelerating' music, and the overall ambience of uncontrollable technology form a seamless whole. .

Thomas Ankersmit (born 1979, Leiden, the Netherlands) is a musician and installation artist based in Berlin and Amsterdam. Initially an improvising saxophonist, his activities expanded to include live electronic music and installation pieces based on architectural acoustics and infrasound. He has been performing solo and in collaboration with other artists such as New York minimalist Phill Niblock, Kevin Drumm, Jim O'Rourke, Gert-Jan Prins, Borbetomagus and Alvin Lucier since 1998. Since 2003, Ankersmit most frequently collaborates with Niblock and electroacoustic improviser Valerio Tricoli. Cheekily named after Aerosmith, Erik Wiegand's project Errorsmith is a pure live performance. The third Errorsmith release contains a selection of live recordings made between 2001 and 2003 in various clubs and concert venues from Berlin to Chicago. Wiegand's performances are interpretations of classic disco and r'n b songs. Digitally synthesized, distorted and filtered clubmusic which goes far beyond its origin. The live sets are played on a laptop with a selfbuild digital live tool, a combination of a simple sequencer and a synthesizer. Errorsmith uses this tool to manipulate both the rhythmical pattern and the triggered sounds in realtime....
